Biomaterials are used to create a mold and scientists engineer the cells to grow in the form of a heart valve. sinc e the heart valve is made from the patient’s own cells, transplant patients will not have reject issues. Repairing heart valves without surgery are one of the goals of regenerative medicine.
Doctors discard umbilical cords when a child is born but this umbilical cord contains the newborn child’s blood from its blood vessels. What this blood contains is a lot of stem cells. The body can repair itself with the use of stem cells. Collecting and storing blood from the umbilical cord which contains stem cells can possibly be used in the future to help your body remain healthy.
